- San Baudelio de Berlanga (Soria)

Mozarab hermitage built in the vicinity of the town of Berlanga. It should have been built around the 11th century, although there are no definite dates for its construction. The use of the horseshoe arch denotes its Mozarab origin and the central palm-shaped pilaster the influence of Andalusian architecture. Inside, hits  paintings stand out. It was declared a National Monument in 1922, but this did not prevent several private owners from selling part of the paintings that were then scattered around various places and especially in the USA. Finally, the Prado Museum was able to recover a part that is now on display in one of its rooms. The paintings were executed at a very early time in the development of Romanesque painting in Spain and mix, exceptionally, sacred and profane themes.
